The job
From March to November you clean windows, frames, and sills inside and out, and clear gutters on one- and two-storey homes in all four areas. You work in a pair, with a van that carries ladders, a water-fed pole, and gutter tools. Every job comes with a ticket listing the windows and the gutter runs, so the customer knows what was done.
A normal day
The pair leaves the base at 8:00, five or six days a week depending on the weather. A typical house takes 90 minutes for windows and another hour for gutters. Upstairs windows are cleaned from the ground with the water-fed pole; ladders are for gutters and the inside of tall frames, and one person always foots the ladder. On wet days the office moves the route and you take inside-only jobs. The day ends between 16:00 and 17:00.
What you need
- You are comfortable working on a ladder at two storeys
- A driving licence (you share the driving)
- A background check before the trial shift
- No experience: you get two days of ladder and pole training before your first job
What we provide
- Pay every Friday through the season
- Harness, gloves, boots, and all equipment
- First call back the next spring, at a higher rate
- A paid trial day with our windows lead
The trial shift is one paid day with one of our leads, on real jobs. At the end you both say whether it is a fit; if it is, you start the following week.
